The Bible is Full of Lies

Wait! Don't leave in disgust just yet. I believe the Bible is trustworthy and true. I believe 2 Timothy 3:16-17 when it says, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." But the Bible still contains many different lies. The first is the serpent's lie to Eve in the garden, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" (Genesis 3:1). God had told them they could eat from all the trees in the garden, except one, the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The next lie is found only three verses later when the serpent tells Eve, "You will not surely die, For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil" (Genesis 3:4-5).

And I think of several more, just in Genesis. Abraham lied repeatedly about Sarah being his sister rather than his wife. Jacob lied to his father, Isaac, in order to steal the blessing of his brother, Esau. Joseph's brothers lied to their father, Jacob, when they told their father that they had found Joseph's bloody garment in the field. Potiphar's wife lied to her husband about Joseph trying to rape her.

This got me to thinking about a book, or maybe just a series of Bible studies or sermons on all the lies of the Bible. Please leave a comment and tell me some of the lies recorded in scripture that come to your mind.

Well normally I take whatever a 16-year-old says as an indisputable fact. Especially when the 16-year-old spells as exceptionally well as this young person. But then I realized that his comments were written by man, and therefore could not be trusted. Oh well.

I am one of those, who cannot take seriously any argument for Christianity, when someone quotes constantly from the Bible as their 'proof'... Of course a non-believer can't accept anything in the Bible - because it is not a text that has proven itself. Take any basic fundamental Christian belief - and say that to anyone else - now, does that really make sense at all? eg. Jesus died for our sins. Or that the Resurrection took place, making Jesus the Son of God, etc. It would be different, if it was accepted fact, that any story in the Old Testament, say - has real origins on this Earth. We know now, that Troy was found and dug up - now, has anything in the bible been dug up? And proven to have existed? Even that, which is now regarded as the cave from which Jesus' body was laid in - was not really that particular cave - because as Ed T Martin says - It was found, only because a reigning emperor wanted that Cave found now! Or else heads would roll - and so, it was found...
The 'Resurrection' sounds like an impossible event - which is explained otherwise in the British documentary "Did Jesus Die?".

Thanks for taking time to read my blog and post. I'd encourage you to check out the wealth of archaeological evidence from places mentioned in the Bible. You might begin with Biblical Archeology Review.
